Ownership shares: the key to allocating charges
Each unit in a condominium has a number of ownership shares ("tantièmes"), set in the condominium regulations according to its size and location. A unit's share of the budget equals its ownership shares divided by the total number of shares.
Some charges, such as the lift, may follow a specific allocation key: simply run a separate calculation for that item using the relevant shares.
Frequently asked questions
What is an ownership share ("tantième")?
Each unit in a condominium has a number of ownership shares, set in the condominium regulations according to its size and location. It is the key used to allocate the common charges.
How do I calculate a unit's share?
A unit's share equals its ownership shares divided by the total number of shares, applied to the condominium budget. The calculator gives the result per year, per quarter and per month.
What about charges that follow a specific key, such as the lift?
Run a separate calculation for each item using the relevant shares: for example, the lift budget allocated only between the units that use it.
